Village Green of Bristol set to unveil new STAR unit with Open House

Forestville, CT, October 26, 2011

On Thursday, November 10th at 4PM, members of the Forestville community will convene for the grand opening of the new STAR unit at Village Green of Bristol. This new unit will cater exclusively to patients in the center's rehab programs, and will offer enhanced amenities, including a state-of-the art gym, dining room and library.

But the heart of the STAR program, according to Village Green of Bristol Administrator Ed Baker is "personalized and intensive therapy services."

STAR stands for specialized therapy and rehabilitation. STAR is an intensive, personalized treatment program that is patient-centered and service-oriented. The aim of the program is not only to "get prospective patients back on their feet," but also to make them feel as comfortable and cared-for as possible during their stay, by offering a higher level of personal attention and amenities.

But while rehab is the centerpiece of the STAR program, it’s the hospitality aspect that patients may appreciate even more. "STAR is unique in that it treats patients like guests," says Baker. "Patients in the STAR program stay in their own unit, with well-appointed patient rooms, a special rehab gym, and even a beautiful new dining room where patients have their meals cooked to order."

"There's also a STAR Library where patients can curl up with a good book or movie, plus a spa room featuring a changing area and a whirlpool tub that accommodates therapeutic amenities,” continues Baker. "There's even a 'guest concierge', to make sure that our STAR patients have everything the need to be comfortable during their stay with us."
